ABOUT THREADTRU

ThreadTru Care Advocates was shaped by seeing care from both sides: the professionals working within the system and the people trying to live their lives while navigating it.

Founder Michelle Peterson's nursing career has crossed clinical and community settings, behavioral health, home-based care, assisted living and memory care, and healthcare leadership. That range offered a close view of what happens beyond the exam room—during transitions, across different levels of care, within families, and in the everyday work required to keep someone's healthcare moving.

And one thing became increasingly clear:

Good care can exist in every individual place and still become difficult for the person receiving it to carry as a whole.

That is the space ThreadTru was created to serve.

Built from more than a decade of seeing where healthcare can lose the thread.

Sometimes the healthcare itself isn't the only burden—the work of managing healthcare becomes a burden of its own.

ThreadTru was built to reduce that burden—and reduce the risk that comes when important pieces of care become fragmented.

One person. One healthcare picture. One thread.

THE CARE BEHIND THE ADVOCACY

I know how complicated healthcare can become.

Throughout my career, I've worked with people at very different points in their healthcare lives—from those managing ongoing medical or mental health needs to families navigating aging, memory changes, transitions in care, and the unexpected things that can change everything.

Those experiences taught me that good healthcare is about more than what happens during an appointment. People need to understand what's happening. They need to know their questions matter. They need someone to notice when something hasn't made it where it was supposed to go. And sometimes, they simply need another person beside them who knows how to navigate the system without losing sight of the human being inside it.

That’s my why and the kind of advocacy I built ThreadTru to provide.

ADVOCACY CENTERED ON YOU

Trust comes before the work.

ThreadTru follows a human-centered, trauma-informed approach to healthcare advocacy. Before we can organize, navigate, communicate, or advocate effectively, there has to be trust between the person receiving support and the advocate standing beside them.

That trust begins with how people are treated.

Every client deserves to feel heard, respected, and safe enough to ask questions, express concerns, set boundaries, and participate in their care in the way that feels right for them.

That means we don't approach someone as a diagnosis, a task list, or a problem to solve. We take time to understand the person—not simply the healthcare situation—and recognize that illness, trauma, mental health needs, cognitive changes, aging, stress, and life circumstances can all influence how someone experiences and communicates within healthcare.

As a nurse-founded organization, ThreadTru brings the principles of compassionate care into advocacy: meeting people where they are, adapting communication without diminishing their voice, protecting dignity and autonomy, and building the kind of rapport that allows meaningful work to continue.

Because before someone can trust us with the threads of their care, they need to know they can count on open, honest, and respectful communication.
